BLUT UND EISEN - Idioten An Der Zeit - 7" EP

The name BLUT + EISEN was intended to hold up the ugly face of fascism to a society that had not been sufficiently denazified. Whilst the name was conceived as a provocation, the lyrics, by contrast, reveal the band’s anti-fascist and anti-militarist stance as a critique of the anti-social civilisation in which we live.

Formed in May 1982, Blut + Eisen saw themselves as a German-speaking punk band with their own uncompromising style. They gave voice to the whole mess that school and home had left them with. The lyrics are full of peculiar things that happen every day in this strange world. They are precise descriptions of situations in which people are born and die – and which tend to encourage the latter. Social criticism – but always with just the right dose of sarcasm and self-irony.

Blut + Eisen’s high-speed punk is repeatedly broken up by tempo changes and abrupt breaks; overly melodic passages are systematically dismantled and go against the grain of complacent consumerism. It’s music that challenged the musicians and through which they found their unmistakable style.

Blut + Eisen toured extensively across the Federal Republic of Germany and neighbouring countries, including a tour of Spain with the Hamburg band “Torpedo Moskau” in February 1985.

Following two supposedly final gigs in Hanover and Berlin in 1987, live recordings at Café Glocksee in 1994 and various performances in 2002, 2008 and 2022–2024, Blut + Eisen are now back on the road with a new singer.
