"Noise Addiction" was recorded in 1978, remained unreleased until 2006 and was quickly out of print. Repressed with updated cover art. A long lost and forgotten piece of first wave American punk. The album bristles with fiercely rocking punk n roll with amazing guitar fury and slamming rhythms. Almost verging on proto-hardcore at times, it's easy to see why a band like the Bad Brains would cite them as an influence and why this essential album lives up to the 'hype'. While they may be described as America's 'first black punk band', you might think this is one of America's best first punk albums. Pure Hell began on the streets of Philadelphia in 1974, known as Pretty Poison, a wild rock n roll band that played louder and faster than anyone else in town, inspired by the likes of the Stones, Iggy, Bowie, Alice Cooper and Hendrix. After reading about the rock n roll goings on in the Big Apple in the pages of Rock Scene and Cream Magazine. Sometime in 1975, they decided to move to New York City. After taking up residence at the infamous Chelsea Hotel, they befriended the New York Dolls and began playing all the hip clubs like Max's Kansas City and Mother's. All the while they became one of the hottest and best live bands in the burgeoning NYC punk scene. During a UK tour in 1978 they released their only 7", which charted in the top 10 of the UK indie charts. During a dispute, their manager left the band and took the master tapes with him, leaving the band stranded. After making their way back to the US, they ended up in LA before disbanding and the album remained unreleased until 2006.
