The Partisans were one of the best and most inspiring bands of the third wave of British punk. Formed in 1978, the Welsh-born band not only channelled all the melody and magic of their influences (Sex Pistols / Clash / Ramones / Vibrators / Stiff Little Fingers / UK Subs) from the first two waves of British and American punk, but also added a refreshing level of youthful energy and, most importantly, a tough 'kids on the street' edge to their sound.
Originally released in 1983 on the now legendary No Future Records label, this debut LP became one of the most important albums of 80s British punk, alongside records by bands such as Blitz, Red Alert and Cock Sparrer. Just listen to songs like "17 Years Of Hell" and "I Never Needed You" and you'll know why this album constantly appears on so many "Top 100" must-have lists of classic British punk.
