"Closer" is the 2nd album by JOY DIVISION and was released on 18 July 1980. It is also the last regular album by JOY DIVISION, who changed their name to NEW ORDER after the suicide of singer Ian Curtis. The album was scheduled for release on 8 May 1980, but was not released until after Curtis' death in July. "Closer" subsequently reached the top ten in the UK. "Closer" is in no way inferior to the debut "Unknown Pleasures" in terms of darkness and intensity. A cold, life-negating sound with a groundbreaking uniqueness. The rope wraps itself around your neck.
