From a concept of misery and suffering, our weak and dying world is the subject of a new hymn to its demise. "Mortal Coil" is Dödsrit's third album, looking back on a career that is still short, but full of soulful moments. Consisting of four tracks, "Mortal Coil" hails the suffocating ashes of the flames of purgatory, forging a wall of soul-consuming riffing, blistering aggression that blends melody with aggression, a veritable firework of cacophony and heartbreaking melancholy.
This relentless maelstrom of sorrow, engulfing everything in its path, finds its vision in the thunderous production - absolutely powerful and lightning organic in all its dynamics. Such sonic virtues are only enhanced by the lively rhythm section and uncompromising ferocity. Whether in blastbeat outbursts, D-beat drenched fury or further atmospheric escapades, the pulsating impulses carry an expression and craftsmanship that translates emotion amazingly well into cataclysmic beats.
A flagellated narrator of tragedy, each word is spat out with the blood and fiery despair of a heart burdened by the weight of our tortured existence, a quivering performance of a tongue lost in the (im)solace of eternal sorrow.
