Products description

DIVIDING LINES have been carrying punk in their hearts and the goth in their souls for over ten years. Inspired by the desire to combine the melancholy of 80s wave and classic Batcave and Death Rock vibes with the DIY attitude of punk, the band quickly created and perfected a sound that is unique throughout Europe. Of the five former band members, Marie and Erich remain the defining core. Bad omens for a third album? On the contrary! The cliché that this is the most critical phase of a band is kicked in the ass. The two "new guys", Benni and Chris, seem like they were born for this band and give DIVIDING LINES a completely new swing, live, in the rehearsal room and in the studio. And you can hear that on "Waiting For Life", without a doubt their best and most intense album so far.

The sound is more powerful than ever, compact and yet multi-layered, moving forward, sweeping out the punk even more without losing their very own deep melancholy and gloom. Finally, they eclipse all levels of comparison and fuse death rock, wave and post-punk into a driving mixture. Benni's characteristically pleading, screeching guitars, Chris' accentuated chopping drums and spherical samples as well as Erich's driving Walker bass and gritty, dirty co-vocals prepare the thorny bed for Marie's unmistakably piercing voice, which has gained an almost frightening presence.

The content of the ten songs on "Waiting For Life" is also clearer and more profound. Deep inner turmoil licks at the dirty middle finger against a rotten world on the brink. Socio-political angry tones without flat flag-waving. With "Sanctuary", from the forge of California death rock legend Crimson Scarlett, the first cover song in the band's history is fired through the speakers.
