Named after the infamous GDR television programme of the same name, the anarcho-German punk formation was formed directly from the remnants of the last L'ATTENTAT line-up. The former L'ATTENTAT guitarist Reudnitz blossomed into a cultishly mauling frontman. The main phase of the "Kanal" were the years of upheaval between 1989 and 1991, but the Kanal is still a local force with a legendary reputation and there have been and still are celebrated performances with changing line-ups. In 2003, the early repertoire was released on an LP.
Songs from L'Attentat and even Wutanfall are still played live, making them accessible to new generations of fans as a "time capsule". All of this is now finally being immortalised physically on the double album "Leipzig 2". In addition to the complete original songs from the 2003 "Leipzig" LP, there are exclusive non-album live recordings and alternative versions.
