Sirenes scream, people scream, stones fly - everything is quite normal:
1.5.1987 in Berlin Kreuzberg; action and reason enough to choose a date as band name.
The band was founded in autumn 1987, when four boys dreamed of being on stage. So it started - with a radio amplifier, hifi boxes without distortion and without being able to play an instrument at all, but with a lot of motivation!
At some point we bought an old dance band drumset, consisting of base, snare and a totally bent hi-hat, which resulted in the first complaint about noise pollution. Since several rehearsal rooms were unfortunately needed elsewhere (?!) and therefore could not be used anymore, we started digging under an existing house with bucket and shovel, for an own rehearsal room.
When this was finally finished, disagreements led to the first reshuffle. Rudi, until then guitar, was replaced by Dr. Schwenni Bäng. So: rehearse the program again and don't get "to pot" for a long time. More months went by and since Basser Andre couldn't be talked out of going to the USA for 8 months... Well, break!
Finally back again! New energy, a lot of rehearsals and new songs resulted in the first demotape, which was recorded in early '92 with the title "Wunsch ist Wunsch".
A good resonance brought the possibility to play concerts "outside", so to give concerts much more often.
But the girlfriend of Bossi (until then Schlag!zeug) didn't agree with that at all and gave him the choice... Two months were then necessary to record Olli and so finally at the beginning of '93 the demo tape No.2 "Naked through Jülich" (by the way, the title was created from Olli's very broad New Year's Eve action!), and the release of 2 tracks on the first Vilaminepillen CD compilation. Despite the actually shitty situation that ½ May comes from Cologne and ¼ May from Düsseldorf and Holzweiler respectively, the formation was strengthened by Tiyah, the singer and guitarist still remaining from the beginning, and so the first CD "Viecher im Leib" was recorded in October '94.
